In harmony with the nationwide celebration of 80 years of National Independence (2/9/1945 – 2/9/2025)—a sacred milestone affirming the will of self-reliance, the spirit of solidarity, and the aspiration to rise—the people of Việt Nam proudly look back on a glorious history while clearly recognizing the responsibility to build a future that is safe – happy – sustainable for the next generation.
In that spirit, on 24/8/2025 in An Giang province, the community campaign “Kình Ngư Tập Sự” officially kicked off, opening a journey to spread skills for preventing child drownings nationwide. The event, organized by Công ty TNHH Thép Tây Đô in coordination with athlete Nguyễn Thị Ánh Viên and local authorities, attracted hundreds of students and parents.
Right from the preparation stage, the organizers provided full equipment, life jackets, skill handbooks, and teams of instructors and dedicated volunteers. This reflects the dedication of the business, the athlete, and local authorities in delivering a practical and safe program for children in riverine areas.
On the first day of the rollout, hundreds of children practiced safe swimming, survival skills, and responses to emergencies in water.
Student Nguyễn Quốc Huy shared:
“I was very happy joining today because I learned many new things from Ms. Ánh Viên. I also received lots of interesting gifts.”
Not only students but parents also appreciated the program’s practical value. A parent said:
“This is truly a useful program. Not only are the kids equipped with knowledge and skills to prevent drowning, but we parents also learn how to protect our children better.”
Speaking at the launch, representative Mr. Trần Nguyễn Bá – Deputy Director of the An Giang Department of Culture and Sports – emphasized:
“Equipping children with survival skills in water is the responsibility of the whole society. With joint efforts from businesses, authorities, and the community, we believe ‘Kình Ngư Tập Sự’ will spread widely and help reduce drowning incidents.”
Ms. Hoàng Khánh Trang, representative of Thép Tây Đô, stated:
“Knowing how to swim is not enough. Children need to practice breathing, floating, and emergency handling skills. Through this campaign, we hope to inspire awareness of physical training and responsibility for oneself and the community.”
Accompanying the program, athlete Nguyễn Thị Ánh Viên shared:
“Knowing how to swim is just the beginning. More important is staying calm and being able to handle danger. I hope the program equips the children with what they need to feel confident living alongside rivers and water.”
At the end of the program in An Giang, each student received a life jacket, a skills handbook, and meaningful gifts. The children’s beaming smiles and parents’ peace of mind were proof of a successful first day.
An Giang is only the first stop. In the coming time, “Kình Ngư Tập Sự” will continue in many other provinces and cities, aiming toward a shared goal:
For a Vietnam where no child drowns.
