During the discussion, Mr. Dixon Oh Gek Soon - Vice President of the Singapore Business Group in Vietnam (SingCham) raised many questions related to scrap material supply, production processes, and Tay Do Steel’s logistics capacity. Tay Do Steel uses medium-frequency steel furnace technology, with scrap steel as its main raw material source. Each year, the company is granted an import quota of about 181,000 tons of scrap, mainly from Japan, the Philippines, Singapore, and Cambodia. In addition to imported sources, the enterprise also takes advantage of abundant scrap collection sources in the southern region.
Scrap import activities are licensed and strictly managed by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
Steel billets are intermediate products serving internal rolling operations and supplying several domestic steel rolling mills. The company plans to export about 25,000 tons of billets to the Philippines and 5,000 tons to Cambodia.
About 60% of Tay Do Steel’s construction steel output is exported to Cambodia thanks to its geographical advantage.
The port system is capable of receiving vessels of up to 10,000 tons, effectively meeting the needs of raw material imports and goods exports.

Mr. Huynh Trung Quang - General Director of Tay Do Steel directly addressed the issues raised
Tay Do Steel is actively studying plans to bring its products to the Singapore market — where large-scale infrastructure projects require abundant supply along with stringent technical requirements. The company affirmed that the quality of Vietnamese steel fully meets international JIS (Japan) and ASTM (United States) standards, creating a solid foundation for its journey to expand into the region.
At the same time, the company aims to complete a 1 million tons/year plant in the 2026–2030 period, with a capital mobilization need of about VND 2,500 billion. In response to this orientation, Mr. Cao Xuan Thang expressed readiness to act as a bridge to financial funds, banking institutions, and green technology sources under ESG standards — opening opportunities to access sustainable capital flows and helping realize the long-term development strategy.
The company is proactively building a roadmap to meet CBAM (Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism) requirements — a strategic move to prepare for markets with strict carbon emission reduction requirements such as Europe and Singapore.
After the in-depth discussion session, the Singapore delegation was invited to take a practical tour of the factory and learn about the on-site production process and operating system.
