
On 25/07/2026, Tay Do Steel officially inaugurated a rooftop solar power system for its steel plant with a capacity of 1.8 MWp at the Tra Noc 1 Plant, Can Tho City. This is an important milestone in the company’s green transformation journey.
The project also affirms its commitment to accompanying customers and partners, as the global steel industry is facing increasing pressure from carbon emission standards. With technology from Trina Solar and Huawei — two Tier 1 partners in the solar energy industry — the system helps Tay Do Steel optimize energy costs while creating competitive advantages for customers and investors on the path to international integration.

Steel production has always been a key industry, but it also consumes a great deal of energy. The world is tightening environmental standards. The European Union’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) is a typical example.
The Vietnamese Government has also committed to achieving Net Zero by 2050. In that context, green steel is no longer a marketing concept. It has become a survival condition for every metallurgical enterprise that wants to maintain its export market.
Responding to the Government’s direction and the call from the Vietnam Steel Association (VSA), Tay Do Steel identifies green transformation in the steel industry as a core strategy, not a campaign activity.
The inauguration ceremony on 25/07/2026 was attended by leaders of the Can Tho City People’s Committee, leaders of VNSTEEL, the Tay Do Steel leadership, and strategic partners: SP Group, Hoa Nam, Trina Power and CTS Vina and the presence of close customers and partners.
The project strictly complies with Decree 135/2024/NĐ-CP on the development of self-produced and self-consumed energy. At the same time, the project affirms Tay Do Steel’s modern technology management capability.
More than 2,500 Trina Solar double-glass bifacial panels (N-type): optimize the absorption and reflection of light energy, increasing electricity output on the same factory roof area.

The 1.8 MWp system officially comes into operation from Q3/2026, bringing three specific values:
Clean power source: supplies about 2.5 million KWh of clean electricity each year, reducing the load on the national grid during peak production hours.
Cooling the workshop: the rooftop panel layer helps reduce workshop temperature by 3–5°C, improving the working environment for employees.
Cost reduction, production stability: discounted electricity helps reduce energy costs per ton of finished steel. A proactive and stable power source also reduces the risk of furnace interruption — a factor that directly affects billet quality consistency and delivery schedules for customers.
A “green passport” for products: reduces thousands of tons of CO2 emissions each year, creating a foundation for Tay Do Steel to conduct greenhouse gas inventories and obtain international green certifications in the near future.
