On 17/04/2026, Tay Do Steel Co., Ltd. was honored to welcome a high-level delegation from the Vietnam – Denmark Energy Partnership Program (DEPP3) for a working session focused on evaluating the actual implementation results of the Voluntary Agreement Scheme (VAS), an important link helping the enterprise optimize energy resources.
The event was attended by Mr. Hoang Van Tam, Head of the General Affairs and International Cooperation Division under the Agency of Innovation, Green Transition and Industrial Promotion – Ministry of Industry and Trade, along with Ms. Nethe Veje Laursen, Energy Counsellor at the Embassy of Denmark in Vietnam, and Mr. Rahul Raju Dusa, Special Advisor from the Danish Energy Agency. Also joining the delegation were DEPP3 program experts Mr. Jorgen Hvid and Ms. Nguyen Huong Giang, together with representatives of the Can Tho Department of Industry and Trade and the professional consulting team from Enerteam.

If steelmaking is seen as a battle with fire, then energy control is the art of command. At the Tay Do Steel plant, where electricity accounts for more than 98% of total energy consumption, every kilowatt saved carries vital value for the environment.
The actual energy report has shown positive changes: from the abundant green energy source of the 1,818 kWp rooftop solar power system, helping cut 1,700 tCO2e per year, to the bold gradual replacement of the DO oil vehicle fleet with electric vehicles to reduce direct emissions.

Overview of the working session at Tay Do Steel
In particular, optimizing heat through the steel billet insulation system has created an effective energy “cycle,” helping reduce emissions by an additional 1,650 tCO2e/year.
Not stopping at equipment, the capability of Tay Do Steel’s engineering team is also demonstrated through controlling charging density, bringing steelmaking electricity consumption down sharply from 728.4 kWh/ton to 685 kWh/ton in 2025. Smelting time has also been significantly shortened, proving an increasingly lean and modern production process.

Mr. Dao Duy Tuan Hung - Deputy General Director of Quality Management of Tay Do Steel Company affirmed that technological improvements bring significant efficiency
Looking to the near future, Tay Do Steel is preparing for a major turning point with an investment project for a shredding and material briquetting system worth more than VND 60 billion. This is no small figure, reflecting the long-term vision of the company’s leadership.
When the project comes into operation, it is expected to create a breakthrough in efficiency by saving an additional 5.2 million kWh of electricity and cutting more than 3,400 tons of CO2 emissions annually. The goal of shortening smelting time to just 100 minutes/batch is no longer a figure on paper, but the destination of determination and perseverance.
Ms. Nethe Veje Laursen rightly noted that energy efficiency is the pillar for businesses to optimize costs and sustainably increase output. For Tay Do Steel, these efforts carry even greater meaning: building a green brand image in the eyes of international partners and making a substantive contribution to the nation’s carbon neutrality roadmap.

Ms. Nethe Veje Laursen emphasized the importance of energy saving, bringing efficiency to businesses.
Sharing the same view, Mr. Jorgen Hvid – Long-term Advisor to the DEPP3 Program, believes that the potential for energy efficiency in Vietnam is very large, from simple solutions to new technologies. He commented: “Simple projects have already delivered clear results, helping reduce energy consumption, improve production efficiency, and create a foundation for deeper improvement steps”.

Mr. Jorgen Hvid noted the positive efficiency in energy consumption and production
With close support from Danish experts and the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Tay Do Steel has accurately identified the “hot spots” of energy waste. Implementing the emissions reduction roadmap is not only about regulatory compliance but also how the company builds trust with global customers.
The nation’s journey toward carbon neutrality by 2050 needs leading pioneers like Tay Do Steel – where steel quality is measured not only by mechanical durability but also by responsibility for the green color of the environment.
